“G-Force” and “The Ugly Truth” Battling for 1st Place at the Box Office
Two new movies each appear to have a good shot at upseating “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” at the box office.
The new comedy “G-Force” and the romantic comedy for adults “The Ugly Truth” made $11.5 million and $10.8 million, respectively, at the box office on Friday, according to boxofficemojo.com.
These early results indicate that both movies should make $30-$35 million over the weekend.
“Harry Potter” may have ended its days at #1 at the box office, though at over $200 million in ticket sales in North America alone, you can bet it will easily get to the half-billion mark soon enough.
Audiences appeared to have wanted something different. The “G-Force” comedy about talking guinea pigs and the adult comedy “The Ugly Truth” went after vastly different audiences.
