Will Lamar Odom Leave the Los Angeles Lakers?

Published by darrinatkins at 12:46 am under NBA Basketball, Sports Edit This

Lamar Odom just won an NBA championship as part of the 2009 Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, but is that enough for him?

Odom is currently a free agent and is trying to determine for himself if he will re-sign with the Lakers or take a larger paycheck and play for the Miami Heat with Dwayne Wade, according to ESPN.

Lamar Odom

It appears that the Heat can offer Odom a longer contract but at a lower per-year rate than the shorter contract that the Lakers proposed a few weeks ago. Now that the Heat team is involved, it looks like the Lakers may have withdrawn that original offer.

Odom is not the young player he once was so he may be looking for a few more guaranteed years than the Lakers wish to offer.

The Lakers have the stronger position at the negotiating table. After all, the Lakers have superstar Kobe Bryant and the recently-acquired Ron Artest. Plus, the Lakers just won a championship and are likely to do so again with or without Odom.

It must be nice to be in a position where you either stay and win another championship or go to another team and get millions of dollars more over a longer period. Must be nice to be Lamar Odom.
